Mark Guerrero sings "The
Ballad of Carlos Almaraz"

The performance below took place at a
tribute to the great Chicano visual artist, Carlos Almaraz,
who had recently passed away. I had known Carlos since
I was a kid in East Los Angeles. My brother Dan, who
was best friends with Carlos growing up, spoke at the event
as did Cheech Marin. Luis Valdez and Cesar Chavez spoke
about Carlos via video tape. My dad and I wrote songs
for Carlos for the event. My dad performed his song
"I Remember You, Carlos Almaraz" and I did mine,
"The Ballad of Carlos Almaraz." In the video
below, I'm introduced by my father, Lalo Guerrero.
